Forum thread: aliases option

Hello. is there a possibility that you can create an 'aliases' button for power teachers, where we can 'informally' change the user , ie so your acting as them so you can see their timetable, their incidents etc as if you were logged in as them without logging on as them if that makes sense?

Hi Eleanor,

Thank you for sharing this suggestion. I shall add it to the other development ideas.

One not very elegant and radical solution in the mean time might be to set one shared password for all teacher accounts, so anyone can log in as anyone... Normally it's kept individual so teachers can keep private records and notes for their own use that they know others won't see and judge them on, but if you're wanting to be totally open then perhaps opening up the security in this way would be beneficial.

Yours,

Marcus

The Cloud Server version of STEARsoft now has two options that address this:
1) An administrator can go to the 'Administrator login' then click 'set password' for the teacher they'd like to be. But instead of changing the password, just click the 'Log in as this teacher' button.

2) As a regular teacher (go to 'Teacher login'), click 'All School Data' then near the top there's a link to 'View teacher timetable'. Click the teacher whose timetable you wish to view. Click on any of their classes to view/mark their register.  To set up access rights, an Administrator should go to 'Edit class access rights' in the Administrator login area.
