Hi, I will soon be changing computers, however will I be able to transfer all my STEAR data across, as this has failed in previous attempts with having to do a system restore? Many Thanks |

Dear Sam, Thank you for your post. Moving your data from one computer to another should be straight forward. There is nothing to stop you trying this in advance and ironing out any issues before it's critical and I'd suggest you do this. However I will outline the basic procedure here to help: 1) Install STEARsoft (with the install program) on the new computer. 2) Use the STEAR Administrator program (from the start menu) to stop the STEARsoft server on BOTH old and new computers. 3) Copy all contents of the data directory from old to new - as detailed in the user guide. 4) restart the servers 5) in the web administrator area of the new computer, activate your license. Two computer changes in this fashion are automatically allowed. If you do more changes, and your activation fails, ask when it fails and I can manually authorise another change. Yours, Marcus |
