Forum thread: Delete students on the spot
Mark Fertig 02 May 2013 22:33 |
Hi,
How do I delete students on the spot as over Summer we will wipe off all student data.

Thank you Sam for your post.
If you are using the central student list feature, then simply check the box at the top to select all students, then press the delete button.
However, student data is copied separately into each teacher account so that they can add their own private incident data and give a preferred name for example. Because teachers can add this extra information they then have responsibility for deleting their local copy of student information. They do this by using the 'Purge old data...' option on the left panel in their main screen. From this screen they can delete all students that are no longer in a class in one quick action. Classes can be deleted by individual teachers, or by the central administrator.
If you are after a way of 'purging' all this old student information in each teacher account as a central administrator this is a feature I could build in. I'm always keen to consider ways of meeting different needs. I'd quite like to understand what it is you're wanting to do first though so that the most appropriate solution is found. And maybe what I've said above has already given you your solution? If you're wanting to clear the system of all data and start from scratch again for example, there are faster ways of doing this. Also, are you aware that the year group information for each student automatically increments so that in theory they can stay in the system through the school... Teachers can then keep incident records that span more than a year for tutor groups or classes that go over a year. Lesson-by lesson records for individual students can also be reviewed over more than a year.
Do post back with more detail if this doesn't give you your solution, as like I say, I'm keen to consider building in new features that people will find useful; original design is not always the best or most suitable and things can evolve.
Yours,

Hi Marcus,
It would be very grateful and help us a lot if you could build in a way of 'purging' all this old student information in each teacher account as a central administrator.
Many Thanks,
Sam. |

Sam,
I have put such a purge feature on the to-do list. However, I may be able to give you a quicker way to do what you want... Are you wiping all classes from each teacher; effectively giving them a clean slate to start from in September?
